A new one minute micro opera, CLAUDIA will be live streamed by Rhymes With Opera (RWO) with soprano Elisabeth Halliday-Quan performing. As a result of the pandemic, RWO asked composers who they have worked with to write a 1 minute opera for a live streaming event to take place on September 12, 2020. Gilbert’s micro opera transforms the poem “May 2018 (in honor of Claudia who was killed by border patrol)” by Waleska Cabrera, and speaks to the heart wrenching reality of the dangers and injustice migrants currently face.
