DESCRIPTION:
Since its inception last year, State of Emergency (SoE) has sought to assemble like-minded composers and performers who feel the need to respond to our tumultuous times in their art with the goal of raising funds and awareness for worthwhile causes. In May 2019, SoE had its first concert at Areté Gallery space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, raising over $500 for the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) and providing a great sense of community, catharsis, and ways for participants and the audience to take direct action toward a progressive cause.

In its second concert, SoE is presenting pieces that explore difficult and relevant topics including climate change, coastal flooding, nuclear fallout, gun control, and the need to maintain bird habitats. Join these composers and performers in an exploration of our time and troubles, in a benefit for something true and decent. All proceeds will be donated to the Environmental Advocates of New York (EANY).

ABOUT Environmental Advocates of New York (EANY):

Environmental Advocates of New York's mission is to protect our air, land, water, and wildlife and the health of all New Yorkers. Based in Albany, we monitor state government, evaluate proposed laws, and champion policies and practices that will ensure the responsible stewardship of our shared environment. We work to support and strengthen the efforts of New York's environmental community and to make our state a national leader. Environmental Advocates is the leading environmental government watchdog in Albany, and your voice for the environment, conservation, wildlife, and public health in New York State. Every day in the state capital, decisions are made that have lasting consequences for the health of all New Yorkers. Environmental Advocates is ever-vigilant, monitoring state government’s actions, advocating for the policies and practices that will protect our environment and defeating regressive measures that seek to roll back hard-won conservation victories. We also partner with multi-state coalitions and participate in national initiatives that have an impact on New York.
